Rolling Ball Sculpture 17.1
Background: This sculpture was built to be a short and sweet, prioritizing overall artistic design over pure action, with focus on the large central lift.
Details: This piece is the first of mine to feature a thick stainless pipe for the marble lift, giving it a more robust look then my previous work. The wall mounted sculpture is built upon a sturdy stainless steel base with the lift located centrally constantly returning marbles to the top indefinitely. Mounted on the bottom there is an easy to access lift speed adjustment knob and plug.
Upon reaching the top of the spiral lift the marbles enter the winding steel tracks, going back and forth and rolling through spirals before entering an adjustable dropper, with no marble weight atop the rear of the dropper it simply lowers the oncoming marbles to the lower track, but after adding a marble it then functions as a collector! It stores 2 marbles and when a 3rd enters they all drop into the large spiral feature and finish the layout, returning back to the lift.
